About NTROPY
Scattered across the land there remain industrial and infrastructure related relics and treasures forgotten to most over the course of time. Most of what you will see featured on NTROPY is industrial in nature, with some focus on old military installations, power generation, infrastructure, mining and underground locations tucked away from the common view. Most of the entries on this website are from Toronto and the surrounding area. We have a particular focus on the Junction and Leaside areas which were both former industrial hotbeds within the City of Toronto. Some locations are also featured from New York State, Pennsylvania and soon Detroit, also know as the “Rust Belt”.
The stories and photographs in this website are the joint work of friends who both happen to share a love of these spaces and who have an interest in researching and documenting them. Photography found here, is both digital and film, from 35mm to large format with a wide selection cameras. We do not use artificial lighting (unless it is available) and most locations have been photographed using available light. Underground locations have been lit using high powered LED’s, fluorescent and halogen lights as well as some flash.
Please contact us if you have any comments, questions or suggestions in regards to the website or locations featured here. The majority of the non-active locations featured here have been demolished over the past few years.
